An applicant called us after failing the PPO license exam today
She strongly regreted not finding us before her test . . .
Scoring 61 (71 percent is the required minimum to pass), she knew that 61 was also a fail in any school on any test. But with her years of security experience, why did she fail so badly?
It was because 'security experience' does not prepare you to pass the test. Neither does the meager help offered by the state. It is more of a 'business test' than anything else. She was floored by seeing questions about sexual harassment, insurance, penalties, payroll, hiring, firing, notifications to the state, and so much more.

'Veterans Come First' program for the Private Patrol Operator license
In May 2012, BSIS introduced the 'Veterans Come First' program for PPO licenses.
In order to assist veterans in their transition from military service
to civilian employment, the Bureau of Security and Investigative
Services (BSIS) has implemented the Veterans Come First Program.
This program offers priority services to veteran applicants and assists
veterans by leveraging their transferable military experience and
training in order to meet all or part of the Bureau’s licensing qualifications.
The BSIS Veterans Come First Program provides the following support for veteran applicants:
Military veterans who have at least 1 year of experience
(2,000 hours) working as a guard, watchperson, sentry, MP,
or equivalent, are eligible to take the licensing Private Patrol
Operator and/or Private Patrol Operator Qualified Manager test(s).
You can receive reimbursement from the Department of Veterans Affairs
(VA) for many of the licensing and certification tests the State of California
administers. The PPO license testing fee has been approved for VA reimbursement.
Veterans also get special assistance with the PPO licensing test at www.thePIgroup.com/ppo.html and with their application.
